Rediscovering Catholicism by Matthew Kelly

I've decided to begin a new feature here at The Steeplechase entitled "A Good Read." It's intended to be a brief review of books that I've read recently. As many of you know, I am an avid reader, so I thought this would be a good outlet to talk about what I've been reading. I also tend to read lesser known books, so hopefully this will be a good opportunity for others to discover these "gems in the rough" as well.

My first review is of a more well-known book, at least in many Catholic circles. The main emphasis of this book is Catholicism as a lifestyle. It's not just something that you "do" or "belong to" it's something that must be lived and acted out in a very concrete way.

The author continually refers back to areas within Catholic spirituality that lead the individual to "become the-best-version-of-myself." In other words, to become a saint, which is really what the call to holiness is all about. Holiness is not something that is foreign to anyone, but it is a discovery process of who we are and what God is calling us to be.
